Scholarship and Academic Statement
Tau Kappa Epsilon strives to remain
committed to the same ideals that our founders created over 100 years ago.
Academics are most certainly a major aspect of our fraternal experience. Our
organization can instill the proper skills for success both in the classroom and
in the real world. We offer scholarships for our outstanding members each
quarter as well as close guidance of grade reports to reassure our original
purpose at Ohio State. With TEKE, a student can be a proud member of an
organization committed to personal and social development. We also offer
excellent opportunities for involvement around the campus starting from within
our very own administrative infrastructure.
Community Service Statement
Being part of a fraternity means
being part of something larger than the self. When we stride, we stride
mightily…together. This applies also to our efforts in community service. Tau
Kappa Epsilon works to help the surrounding campus community. Giving back is an
important lesson for any student and it is one that can align them with the
proper ideals of the fraternity. At TEKE, we work to make better men. This grand
institution can provide males with this philanthropic pride. At the national
level, our organization holds an annual soft ball tournament with Kappa Alpha
Theta sorority. All of the proceeds go directly to our national charity: the
Special Olympics. Be a part of TEKE and realize the potential of organization!
Brotherhood Statement
We believe that the essential
elements of true brotherhood are love, charity, and esteem; love, that binds our
hearts with the sturdy chords of fraternal affection; charity; that is impulsive
to see virtues in a brother and slow to reprove his faults; esteem, that is
respected to the honest convictions of others and that refrains from treading
upon that which is sacred to spirit and consciences; these are the triple
obligations of every brother in the bond. Entering this bond is analogous to
entering a lifetime contract with the fraternity. These principles guide us in
our daily interactions as fraters and explain how we have achieved the strongest
brotherhood ties at the Ohio State campus.
Social Statement
Tau Kappa Epsilon can offer an
excellent opportunity to network a student in the Greek Community at Ohio State.
With our various events with other sororities and fraternities, you will quickly
learn the names of many other Greeks making the campus much smaller. Some of our
larger annual social events include our Homecoming, Greek Week, TKE Halloween,
the Red Carnation Ball, and our Spring Foam Party. We also schedule one-on-one
events with other campus sororities as well as a variety of themed invite
parties. With TKE, a student can experience the higher faculties without
forgetting some of the simpler appreciations that life has to offer.
What We Look for in a Member
Our goal is to fully develop young
men into leaders and upstanding members of the community. Therefore, our chapter
aspires to recruit members who are willing to uphold the principles and ideals
of the fraternity…to let the blood of TKE flow through their veins. But our
central purpose is to make the ideal male by combining our institutional efforts
with their commitments… to live up to the standards of love, charity, and esteem
as created by our devotion to brotherhood. When a member has finished their time
as an active member in the fraternity, they should have high regard for these
newfound values and their memories at TKE should be of learning and experience
to create the better man.
What it Costs to be a TEKE
In-house members of Tau Kappa
Epsilon must pay $1,795 per quarter to remain active members of the fraternity. This
includes social dues, a ten meal/week plan, and national dues.
Out-of-house members
must pay $395 to remain active members. This goes towards social and national
dues and any other events that the chapter hosts, including a weekly chapter
dinner.
